Principal's Message

Mr.JoshuaPohlPrincipalBES

Mr. Joshua Pohl, Principal

Dear Brookville Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am honored and excited to serve the Brookville community as the principal of Brookville Elementary.

This is my twenty-first year in education and my sixth year as a building principal. Most recently, I served as a principal in the Vandalia-Butler City School District. Prior to that, I was a building principal in the Franklin City School District. I also served as the assistant principal at Morton Middle School for two years and spent thirteen years teaching at Demmitt Elementary. I am excited to join the Brookville family and look forward to partnering with you to make this a successful and memorable school year.

At Brookville Elementary, we are fortunate to have a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to helping every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We believe every child can succeed, and we are excited to partner with our families to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where each student is encouraged to reach their full potential.

We encourage you to be an active partner in your child's education by joining our PTO, volunteering in classrooms, or helping with special events throughout the year. Your involvement plays an important role in making Brookville Elementary a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me by email at pohlj@brookvilleschools.org or by phone at 937-833-6796.

We are looking forward to a fantastic school year and can't wait to welcome our students back to Brookville Elementary. Together, we will make this a year filled with learning, growth, and success. Go Blue Devils!

Sincerely,

Joshua Pohl
Principal
Brookville Elementary

District Profile

State Report Card Data

2024StateReportCardDataOhio School Report Cards provide parents, caregivers, community members, educators and policymakers information about district and school performance — to celebrate successes and identify areas for improvement. The report cards establish high expectations for the education community while showing progress toward equitable outcomes for all Ohio students. Brookville Schools again received high marks on the 23-24 report card.  We are very proud of our students, staff and community for their hard work and dedication.

Purple Star School

PurpleStarSchool

Brookville Local Schools was proud to earn the Purple Star Designation in recognition of our commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.

We were also excited to be included in the Purple Star Award Day Tour this afternoon! During the tour, we welcomed MIC3 State Commissioner Pete Lupiba, Tammy Puff, Director of Military and Veteran Relations, and representatives from the School Liaison Office for a special visit to our district. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the efforts of our school community and to celebrate our commitment to military families.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this achievement possible. We are proud to be a Purple Star School!

Platinum Schools of Excellence in Prevention

Platinum Schools of Excellence in PreventionFor the third year in a row, Brookville Local Schools received recognition for achieving the Platinum Schools of Excellence in Prevention designation for work completed in the 23-24 school year. The program rewards schools who actively work to provide prevention programs which support students' mental and academic health. The program recognizes levels of achievement beginning with Bronze, Silver and Gold, followed by the most elite, Platinum. All three school buildings achieved the Platinum award. Congratulations to our entire guidance department (Mrs. Storie, Mrs. Neely, Mrs. Spangler and Miss Duckro), teachers, support staff and administrators for working together to achieve this honor.
